The Inaugural Issue of FEK AI Newsletter 🧿By Burak Tunca • Read Time: 2 min Hello everyone! As many of you know, starting from this semester I will be acting as the Director of AI Integration at the department.
As part of my responsibilities, I will be sending email newsletters periodically to update everyone about developments in
the Generative AI space in general and also at the university/faculty/department in particular. In this inaugural issue,
I would like to highlight two key points: – AI discussions at the kick-off event next week – An overview of the most current Generative AI tools available This ongoing communication aims to ensure that our department remains at the forefront of AI integration at the university.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or insights you may have regarding these advancements via our
dedicated email address: ai@fek.lu.se. Looking forward to seeing you at the kick-off, All best, Burak |

The Kick-Off Day on 22/8 🚀 The afternoon session of our kick-off event will be dedicated to presentations and discussions centered on Generative AI. The program is structured as follows: 1. Hands-on Demonstration: We will begin with an interactive session showcasing our currently recommended tool, Microsoft Copilot Chat. To fully experience its capabilities, I encourage you to use the Microsoft Edge browser. For Windows users, it should be pre-installed. Mac users can easily install it via the “Self Service” tool. 2. Generative AI platforms for FEK: The second part of the afternoon will focus on our ongoing initiatives to introduce an independent Generative AI platform for the department.
This platform aims to provide our staff and students with access to the most advanced tools available while maintaining privacy and security. We are looking forward to everyone’s active participation in both segments as collaborative engagement is essential to reach those ambitious objectives. |

Updates on AI Tools 🤖 As anticipated, we have been witnessing the existing AI tools becoming more capable, faster, and cheaper.- OpenAI introduced their new flagship model GPT4o. You can try it (with a limit) on the free tier of ChatGPT.
- In response, Anthropic released Claude 3.5 Sonnet, which performs as good as (if not better than) the rival OpenAI model GPT4o. You can try this model for free at Claude.ai.
- Please remember not to share sensitive information on these websites as your inputs become part of the public training data.
- In the text-to-image generation domain a new player entered the scene: Flux AI. It blew away the competition with its amazinag capabilities with text and image details. Create a free account on FLUX AI and go wild with it. In fact, the image below has been generated by FLUX if you would like to see it in action:
